Germany takes over the EUROFEU Presidency - Jan Witte takes office

Jan Witte, board member of the German bvfa - Federal Association for Fire Protection Technology, is the new president of the European umbrella organisation EUROFEU. In the context of EUROFEU’s general assembly, held on November 17, 2016, former President Dr. Markus Müller handed over the office to his successor. The President is elected for a period of two years.

As of November 17, 2016, Jan Witte, CEO of the company Minimax in Bad Oldesloe, Germany, has taken the office of the President of the European umbrella organisation EUROFEU. He succeeds Dr. Markus Müller, CEO of Wagner Switzerland AG, as President of EUROFEU. The President of the umbrella organisation EUROFEU is elected for a period of two years.

A mechanical engineer by training, Jan Witte has been a member of the managing board of Minimax GmbH & Co KG since 2010. On January 1, 2016 he has become CEO responsible for product management & marketing (Europe/FSG) as well as manufacturing and logistics.

“The course taken by Dr. Markus Müller to advance EUROFEU is the right one”, states Witte after being elected. In addition to the traditionally strong emphasis on norms and regulations, he wants to further establish the organization as a European mouthpiece of fire protection. According to Witte, “fire protection in Europe has not yet reached the status and quality necessary for the protection of people, assets, and the environment”. The cooperation with other European organizations such as Euralam and EFSN, whose interests and goals are similar to EUROFEU’s, thus has priority.

EUROFEU (The European Committee of the Manufacturers of Fire Protection Equipment and Fire Fighting Vehicles) is the umbrella organisation of fire protection equipment, systems, and fire fighting vehicle manufacturers throughout Europe. National associations from EU and EFTA countries engaged in fire protection, such as the bvfa, are members of EUROFEU. Since 2006, the organisation’s Secretariat General has been managed by the bvfa - Federal Association for Fire Protection Technology. The office of the President rotates every two years between national associations.
