• The Section continues through much of its activities to promote the need for quality fire protection in order to reduce losses as a result of fire.
• National Associations coordinate their activities in the work of European and International Standard bodies through the Section in order to present a common position on standard matters. To date, such policy has proved highly successful with the publication and now the ongoing revision of EN3.
• The Section also influences and maintains the development of European Directives with face to face meetings with representatives of the EC and their expert groups. These include the Pressure Equipment Directive, the Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive, as well as the Marine Products Directive.
• The Section has now set up a Joint Liaison Forum with the European Insurers (CEA) in order to discuss matters of common interest, particularly in the testing and certification fields
